About

I’m a former teacher and autism education practitioner and currently a Senior Lecturer in Special Education at the University of East London.

I completed my  PhD at the University of Birmingham where I focused on the inclusion of autistic children in the curriculum and assessment in mainstream primary schools. I was also project manager of the Transform Autism Education  programme and I was subsequently an ESRC postdoctoral Fellow at King’s College London, where I am still a visiting researcher. I am also an honorary Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham.

This blog lies at the choppy intersection of the personal, professional and academic. Posts are informed by my experiences as a parent of an autistic child: I also draw on my former work as a teacher and autism education practitioner. However, I mainly write about my current activities as a researcher.
